Barber Motorsports Park was overflowing with Mustangs. I personally have never seen so many Mustangs. At one point I looked up and saw a sea of raised Mustang hoods. That's really all I could see at that point. It was wild. There were FR500S Mustang Challenge race cars and historic racers. There were 2010 Mustangs that people were seeing for the first time in person and 1964 Mustangs that we have all seen our entire lives.

We brought the 1995 Cobra R Steeda Race car. We ran all day Thursday during the events open track sessions. On Sunday we lined up for a Cobra R Exhibition race.

The SCCA has made some long awaited changes to the rules governing their longtime popular pony car racing class, American Sedan. The new guidelines allow Mustangs in the Touring classes to run AS and thus allowing for the first time fuel injected engines in the class.

The class has required Mustangs and Cobras to race with 302ci carburated engines, a package that has not been available in a street Mustang for well over a decade. Now fuel injected pushrod and modular engines can be used.

This allows Mustangs and Cobras in the T1 and T2 classes to race in AS at a national level. This move is hoped to both modernize the class and increase participation that has slipped in recent years.
