Dean Martin brought his 2009 Koni Challenge GS class champion #58 Mustang FR500C and a crew of drivers to Road Atlanta and won the second annual NASA Toy Run 9 Hour Endurance race at Road Atlanta.

There were 23 cars that ran the race with a unique mix of professional road racers and amateur club racers.  There were Koni Challenge Mazdas in the field and a brand new Porsche Cayman race car.  But the focus was the Mustangs.

The Rehagen Racing Koni Challenge Mustang spent most of the race swapping the race lead back and forth with the Mustang driven by Ford Racing Mustang Challenge driver Zach Lutz in his #33 FR500S.  They lead many laps, but the difference in horsepower between the two Mustangs is significant.  It was very much an uphill battle for the lesser powered Mustang Challenge car.

In the end the overall win went to the FR500C and the FR500S car had to settle for second place and a class win in the race.

Our Mustang On Track race car was there as well.  We took advantage of the nine hours of green race track to get our Grand Am FR500C out to continue to sort it out in preparation for possible entry in Grand Am racing.

We invited Mustang Challenge Driver Joe Lee Middlebrooks to test the car.  The PPR team worked through a few adjustments for Joe Lee and the car got better.  We ended up with an average lap time about the same as the race winner.
