SVTOA has been going thru some painful changes over the last couple of years, but their reputation for putting on the best club race track days has not changed.

In May SVTOA takes over the Shenandoah Circuit at Summit Point Raceway. Along with theWest Virginia mountain views, so great track fun is found at Summit Point.

Summit Point Raceway is one of the great heritage road courses in the United States. Recently they have added two supplimental tracks to the famous main course at Summit point.

The track is tight with plenty of space to let the ponies run and a signature banked corner that is something out of a Disney designed roller coaster.

The new head of the SVTOA, Marcie Cipriani, was on hand along with every SVT build Ford product. She spoke with members about the coming changes to look forward to for SVTOA members. She also brought with her some great SVTOA licensed gear that I had not seen in a while. In fact I left the event with two Cobra R baseball caps that I had never seen before.

There was a complete variety of Mustangs. Cobras, Terminators, GT500's. There was one Shelby built Shelby GT as well.

SVT means more than just Cobra Mustangs, however and there was a full collection of the other Special Vehicle Team's line of products from over the years.

Lightning trucks, SVT Contours, and the Ford GT.

Some drivers had instructors as they tried their hand at a race track for the first time while others ran solo in fully prepared race cars.

As is always the case SVTOA's chief instructor Jeff Lacina was on hand to organize the track activity. There were run groups for beginners with instructors riding in the cars.

There were solo and advanced groups for those with more experience.

The event was two days packed full of driving and instruction. Saleen was on hand with some of their latest products including the 2008 Mustang that takes it's look from the 1969 Mustang Boss 302.

As always after the driving there was plenty of time for meeting up with old friends and making new one's. Plus there is always good food and drink.

The weekend included some excitement that some might have wanted to avoid, but there's always one.....or two.

In the end SVTOA Mountain Madness was a great event.
