If you had been at Road Atlanta this past weekend(March 14-16, 2008) for the NASA-SE race weekend, you would have been in for a real treat.

Two weeks ago Ford delivered its first FR500S race Mustangs.  These cars are meant for the Miller Cup race series and with the debut race at Road Atlanta in a little more than a month many FR500S owners took advantage of the NASA race weekend to try out their new toys.

Rehagan Racing and Stable One of Maryland had eight of these cars on the race track and they looked very good.

The FR500S is a factory built 325hp race car.  The Miller Cup is a 7 race series that starts in May at Road Atlanta and concludes in September at Miller Motorsports Park.

You could call it a spec Mustang series.  The cars are equally prepared by Ford and the teams must race the cars as they are delivered.  BF

BF Goodrich sponsors the series where all the cars run the new DOT road race tire, the BFG G-Force R1.

Many of the drivers are entry level race car drivers, but there are others that are much better known in racing.

The red car will be raced by Jim Click and we say Koni Challenge Driver Dean Martin Lapping in the car on Sunday.

The FR500S stickers at $75k and when you compare it to other factory prepared race cars like the Viper Competition Coupe the car is quite a bargain.

It also appeared to create some very intense competition on the race course.

The series hits some of the best road courses in North America including Lime Rock, Mid Ohio Sports Car Course and Mosport in Canada.
