The July NASA event was back at CMP, which made this my third time out on this particular track. In preparation for the event, my father put a larger heat exchanger from Steeda on the cobra to help alleviate the issue from Barber where the supercharger cut out the last session of each day.
He also put a different computer program in from Steeda that boosted the engine approximately 30hp. When the weekend schedule was posted online, I tried to see if I could be switched to the run group that leaves earliest on Sunday in order to help out with my long drive home. A small mix-up occurred, so I ended up missing my first session of the weekend. Everything got straightened out with plenty of time for me to run in the 2nd session. |

I just turned in my final installment of "From the sidelines to the starting line" for Mustang Enthusiast. With that our ME work with the famous #05 Steeda Cobra R race car has been concluded. I am grateful to Editor Larry Jewett for giving me that project and all the pages we filled in 12 issues.
I learned to race. Earned a license in both SCCA and NASA. We won an enduro at the SCCA's prestigious ARRC race at Road Atlanta with co driver Dwight Kelly and then won a sprint race in NASA American Iron Extreme this summer also at Road Atlanta. |

Dwight and I got a chance to shake down our Steeda '95 Cobra R for the first time after accident repairs at Road Atlanta last weekend with a 90 minute SCCA Enduro. We found somethings that we didn't like and had a chance the very next weekend to try and work thru some of those issues. This would be a NASA Southeast American Iron race weekend at Savannah's historic Roebling Road Raceway. Without question this is my best race track. I have more laps here than any other course in the year and a half that I have been racing. I am comfortable with the surroundings and the race track. It has resulted in my best finish in a NASA race, a 3rd in AI class in September, '07 and some of my most competitive lap times. |

Mustang On Track has its own race team. We take our name, Terra X RaceSport from the team name that our '95 Cobra R Raced under back in the day. For what we are doing here, though, we can call ourselves Mustang On Track racing or MOT racing. This past weekend we were scheduled to do the NASA-SE Road Atlanta race. That would be a three hour enduro on Friday with Dwight Kelly and I sharing the driving. Then American Iron races in the Cobra R for me on Saturday and Sunday along with our student driver teammate Alison Goodwin in her second round of NASA HPDE 1. |
